What is this beast?
Bumboclaat! If you want maximum airflow and maximum noise, this is the hardware you need to let that spooly boi breathe! The MST Intake ditches the quiet factory box for a massive open-air design tailored for the G-Series chassis. It features a heavy-duty powder-coated heat shield and a giant dry nano-fiber filter. When you step on the gas, this thing sucks air so aggressively small pets might go missing. When you let off, the bypass valve flutter will make you smile every single time. It's cheap, it's rowdy, and it flows enough air to feed a hybrid turbo upgrade.
Why the stock part is absolute pain
BMW designed the stock airbox to keep the car quiet for soccer moms. That acoustic dampening completely kills the glorious turbo sounds of the B58. The MST intake removes all those bottlenecks. It allows the turbo to hit target boost with less effort (lower wastegate duty cycle), which means less heat and more power. The heat shield does a wicked job of keeping the hot air away from the filter. Pure street energy, loco!
